Kevin Haney

Kevin Haney is an educator at Strath Haven High School with 27 years of teaching and coaching experience, dedicated to supporting students both academically and personally. A former college basketball player, he brings a strong foundation in athletics, teamwork, and leadership into his work as an educator and mentor. Known for his commitment to relationship-building and service, Kevin strives to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes confidence, accountability, and personal growth. He was also selected by WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show as the “Coolest Teacher,” a recognition reflecting the impact he has on students and the school community.

In addition to his work in education, he has appeared on national media outlets including The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Today Show, and NPR. On The Kelly Clarkson Show, he shared a powerful story about helping save families during the evacuation of Afghanistan from the Taliban, highlighting the importance of compassion, courage, and community in times of crisis. He has also been featured on multiple podcasts discussing mental health, sports, education, and a life of service.

Kevin has been selected by multiple Strath Haven graduating classes as the commencement speaker on three occasions and has twice had the yearbook dedicated in his honor. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hope for Hallie and has been recognized for his impact and service with induction into the Philadelphia Ring of Honor, the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Legion of Honor Humanitarian Award, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Humanitarian Award presented at the annual state convention, and a Humanitarian Service Award from his alma mater, West Catholic. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to leadership, advocacy, and service to others.
